Having a serious injury or illness can force you to put your life plans on the back burner. When you’re injured or ill, we know that more than anything you just want to return to the life and independence you had before.

It’s important to remember that the treatments you receive at the hospital are just the first – and not the only – step in your recovery. Without the next step of concentrated and refined rehabilitation, your recovery can stall before it is complete.

That’s why LifeWorks Rehab is the right choice for your recovery. Our advanced inpatient rehabilitation plan may offer faster and more complete injury recovery than home or outpatient therapy.

Because serious injuries and illness cause such a wide variety of damage, the LifeWorks process always starts with an extensive evaluation that examines all aspects of your pre- and post-injury condition. We then develop a personalized plan that addresses your needs and goals.

We use physical therapy to address the basics of strength and conditioning to help you start moving safely on your own. If necessary, we’ll teach you to use adaptive equipment like a cane or walker. We also use occupational therapy to help you perform the activities of daily living such as dressing, bathing, cooking, medication management, toileting, and safety in the home environment. Speech therapy will help with swallowing, speaking, or cognitive ability issues. We also do a home assessment to help you safely return home. This can include removing fall hazards like rugs and replacing them with non-slip surfaces and safety bars in the bathroom. We don’t consider our work complete until you reach your full potential and can perform tasks at your best level.

The LifeWorks Advantage
A Little Inspiration

Ivey was stringing Christmas lights when his ladder slipped out from under him. The damage to his hip meant months in the hospital and more months in rehabilitation.

When Ivey came to LifeWorks Rehab he was ready to get started. "I knew I could get back on my feet," he says. "I've known a lot of the folks at LifeWorks for years, so I was sure I was in good hands."

Due to the severity of his injuries, Ivey's rehabilitation took more than seven months. But he committed himself to regaining his strength, endurance — and independence. And he was an inspiration to others.

Now fully recovered and back tending his yard, Ivey still visits his LifeWorks center every chance he gets. "I just come and talk to my friends there," he says. "They did so much for me. And I think some of the patients there can draw on my experience."

And come Christmas? "I won't be stringing any lights anymore," he says. "At least, not high up."
